Bencic completed a 2½ hour set down comeback to beat Rogowska.
Dangerous, but JoKo, if playing well, has better weapons than Rogowska, and from what I've seen from Bencic, she can struggle still dealing with consistent power.
Hope the Konta FH is on tip top form!
She should take heart today. Kurumi Nara, who Jo memorably beat to make 2012 USO, and against whom she has a 4-0 H2H, has today won the International level event in Rio de Janeiro.
Now, Nara has improved, no doubt, but I still believe that Joko is the better player.
If the Japanese lady can make such achievements, why not Jo?
I think that at some point, everything is just going to 'click' with her and she'll power on from there towards reaching her potential. Just cracking the top 100 for the first time might be the trigger and impetus, as it has recently for several players that Jo was on the scene coming through with: Glushko, Zhang, Riske, Nara, Pereira, Ormaechea
It seems often times harder to escape the gravity of the black hole between 125 & 100 then it does to then move from 100 to about 60 in the rankings.
Bencic broke first, in game 7, but JoKo broke straight back and has been holding serve more convincingly. She also had at least 1 set point in the 10th game but Bencic hold on and is now serving to stay in the set again.
6-5*
