We have some verygood girls playing here - Jodie, Eden, Georgina, Ema. I would hope we get a winner out of one of them.

Nice photo from Melanie of the girls hard at work. (I know these girls are younger but we've had the conversation before - there's no reason why 16 and 17 and 18 year-olds (and indeed older) can't do the same - it's the norm in most countries.).

Anyway, nice one and good luck to all the young tennis players.

Jodie has a super game, but at 14 hasn't played much on the junior circuit and her ranking will fly up very quickly. I think she is very talented and will be one to watch.

Yes, Jodie looks another still 14 yo ( like Kate Swan, Anastasia Mikheeva and Georgina Axon ) to keep an eye on.

I see that Georgina was born 26/05/99 and both Anastasia and Jodie were born 28/05/99. Katie's the old one, born 24/03/99.

Good news from Oslo apparently

"The West Hants Club ‏@WestHantsHPC 37s

Massive! Jodie Burrage wins Oslo ITF G4 #leadbyexample"

It means the second successive year a Brit has won the title - Emily Smith the victor last year - and is Jodie's first G4, to follow her G5 success in Liverpool. No score available yet on ITF or Norwegian Tennis Federation site.

Grib got more games than Jodie's other opponents but still didn't extend a set. If you didn't see it last year this is quite a good article about Jodie: www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/10141986/Wimbledon-tennis-14-year-old-girl-The-lonely-reality-of-trying-to-get-to-Wimbledon.html

I like the fact that we have at least 4 good prospects for the 99's. Hopefully they'll all push each other on. The 97's have come alive in the last 12 months or so. I just get the feeling having followed british tennis for the last 15 years or so that we have bigger groups of juniors coming through each year. Whether they go all the way is another thing. When Bally, Anne,Mel and Katie were coming through it was 1 maybe 2 a year and it certainly helped with those four.
