Brilliant result, Lewis. Really pleased. :)

(Must be his best scalp in a long time . . . since back at the Wimbledon qualie play-offs maybe ? )

To complete the set:

L32:  Lewis Burton WR 790 defeated (3) Ivo Klec (SVK) WR 388 by 4 & 3 biggrin

And a decent-looking second-round draw as his reward:

L16:  (WC) Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul WR 915 (CH 889 in November 2012)

Bet that tennis referees' nightmares involve a Davis or Fed Cup pitting Thailand against Madagascar.

Great result Something about Thailand seems to bring out the best in Lewis - his career best scalp was his win over (then-Aussie) Brydan in Phuket in 2012.

This has already been explained by Gary. It's the Thai massages that do it for Lewis :)

Finally we can celebrate a decent singles result for Lewis, its been far to long!!

I had a sneaky feeling he might pull it off... with Meehan (who has a similar game) beating Klec in probably similar hot conditions in Cambodia not so long ago, as well as Lewis giving Marcus a run for his money last week and him seemingly having decent results when in Thailand.

Hopefully decent runs for both of them now and really make the trip count

Burton wins a marathon, 6-4 6-7(3) 7-6(3) - Very nice to back up his win yesterday and a close match like that can only help with confidence

Willis about to start third set, 6-4 4-6 *0-0

Massages all round . . . and then the doubles :)

Very much so the boys are starting to find some  form they appear to be raising their game against tough opponents and they have played their part in a week of surprise upsets marcus taking out last weeks singles title winner & Burts the no3 seed Klev

With the no2 seeds just beaten hoping this going to be best week so far in 2014 .

Good to see. Can often take time to find your feet at the start of a new season. Hopefully both guys are in full flow now.

Both of last week's finalists have now been despatched by Marcus ... and Lewis into his first singles QF of the year - good stuff
