I think it mad that those sort of events aren't on the British calendar given the amount of players that could be competitive in them now.

Answering myself here, and not sure if its been mentioned elsewhere but the 8 futures events scheduled after the grass season are all now £15k events.  No challengers but, still a good move in the right direction.

I'd rather they had had that the other way round and had the 15k's at the start of the season when there are fewer challengers to give our players in the 200's and 300's a chance of a better points base to start the season. And then the lower ranked guys can come in and have a good shot at the 10k's in the summer.

Having just looked at the latest LTA calender you are being far too generous. Initially what we had during the Summer and Autumn was as followed

3 x 10K futures on grass

2 X 15K futures on outdoor hard

3 X 10K futures on outdoor hard

4 X 10K futures on indoor hard

That seems to have been replaced with

3 x 15K futures on grass

2 X 15K futures on outdoor hard

3 X 15K futures on indoor hard

While I welcome an increased number of 15Ks I am less than convinced that this is a big improvement.

I can see the 15ks having quite a lot of challenger ranked players in there during the summer so any possible benefit won't be noticed.

Coxy now up to 9th alt for IW Quals

A couple of more withdrawls help him move higher.   Its about £900 prize money for entering so would cover his expenses, does anyone think Dan would travel for this if he was going to make the cut?

I assume that he would at least consider it, after all he put his name down in the first place.

It would be rather amusing scheduling, Shrewsbury 10K, Indian Wells, Tipton 10K.

However isn't Miami a mandatory count and Dan will probabaly not want a zero on his counters.

It's only mandatory if you are in main draw - not qualifiers

I wonder why that is. He was certainly intending to play. When he left Marseille, his parting words to Colin and Ross were "See you in Indian Wells".

Maybe the injury was indeed genuine and hasn't cleared up as quickly as he hoped despite pulling out of the doubles.

That does sound the very likely explanation.

Yes. I had forgotten about that. It certainly seems the most plausible explanation.

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Incredible when you consider last years last direct acceptance was 164, this year it could be around the 300 mark.  Surely the sort of event as to why he plays tennis, hope he travels, a great opportunity.
