RE: Week 7 - ATP 500 Series: ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament - Rotterdam (indoor hard) - doubles

R1: Michaël Llodra & Nicolas Mahut (FRA/FRA) CR 40 (15+25) defeated (WC) Ross Hutchins & Jesse Huta Galung (NED) CR 649 (570+79) by 7-6(1) 6-3

They led by *4-0 at the start of the first set & by 3-1* at the start of the second... cry

Still not bad for a player who was playing Futures only a few weeks ago

Jesting aside, that's actually quite a decent scoreline for a scratch pairing against one of the world's best teams. And as a WC entry, Mr Hutchins has benefited from another "free" tournament. Getting back into the swing of things ...

I know, I know, but I just kinda hoped when I saw them take the lead at the start of each set like that. hmm

They didn't play though - anyone know why??

If the draw sheet is to be believed, Tursunov had some kind of problem with one of his legs.  Thank God Jonny's not been injured.

Tursunov took a medical time out during his singles match against Dimitrov so this seems likely to be accurate. Bad luck for Jonny but at least it happened in a week where he had a tough draw.

I felt a lot better about Ross's & Jesse's result when I saw that Llodra & Mahut when on to dump out Nestor & Zimonjic by 6-4 4-6 [10-1] earlier on.  wink
