Well, the Order of Play says it starts at 3 p.m. so I guess they're not late . . ..
Are they having a laugh ???? Do the Portuguese have no alarm clocks ???
NB In fact, I'm sure when I looked this morning it said 13.30. It now also says that the doubles tournament is cancelled. So I guess they thought, OK, no doubles, we can push it all back, why not . . .
Early this morning, it said Oli was due to start at 11!

I'm not very good at 'early' this morning (mine's more a 'mid-morning coffee' definition) but I completely believe you - after all, what's not to believe, the way it's going . . .
In fact, I reckon that matt Short lost on purpose - thought, OK, I'll play three sets, get a decent game, decent workout, but I might as well lose coz it'll cost me more to hang around for three days for, potentially, a FQR / R1 match - might as well go home . . . (and only half-joking . . . )
It's all pretty bizarre . . .
edit: yes, RJA, you're probably right but . ..

Sign in for qualies for next week is tomoro, its raining and they havent played 3rd rnd qualies this week, could be a few SEs 4 next week 🙈🙈🙈
So a quick question. If a tournament were to be so rained out that they actually couldn't run it, would they have any obligation to offer some of the unclaimed prize money to signed-in players, to help compensate them for their expenses? Or would the players simply lose out?

The players would lose out, I believe.

Quite seriously, it feels as though there is a strong case for having at least one person ranked 100+ on the ATP Players Council, in addition to the 1-50 and 51-100 players. Or even perhaps one Division One player (top 200 singles, top 100 doubles) and one Division Two player (500, 250). I know that Futures are ITF events, not ATP, but maybe if there were more people on the ATP for whom the issues about Futures/Challengers were a major concern, there could be some more pressure brought to bear generally.
It's a very odd situation indeed where the majority of the workforce have no representation whatsoever (as far as I can tell) vis a vis the terms and conditions of their work: no way of feeding into ITF structures and no representation in the ATP structures either.
Forecast for rain all day today. I have to conclude that they are now forced to cancel F2 as F3 qualifiers need to kick off today for next weeks tournament!!!!
Surely they could have found an indoor solution somewhere in the region, since the forecast has been fairly consistent for rain and more rain all week since last weekend. Sometimes crossing fingers isnt enough.
Oli reports that they will be playing at a different club today - no singles posts (not a huge deal) but also no umpires (can't they be bothered to go to the other club too?!) ...

My guess is that they are trying to play matches at both clubs at the same time and there simply aren't enough umpires to go around. All-in-all, the whole thing seems like a bit of a shambles, although to be fair, they can't control the weather.
I gather there are pretty much no indoor courts in that part of Portugal for the simple reason that the weather normally allows for outdoor tennis all year round.
