Good win for Kyle and hopefully he will take the title tomorrow.
Nice to see no lingering effects of any possible disappointment over the Davis Cup where I felt some of those talking him up so much weren't really doing him any favours.
By the way, a little maybe pernickety point about an earlier comment, I see no disadvantage in serving second in a tiebreak.
In truth I don't think it makes any real significant difference. Arguably there's more to psychologically gain by an immediate mini break and also if points are on serve come the business end, the second server will be the first one putting the pressure on with a set / match point, as Kyle was here at 6-5*. Clearly from then on it just swings back and forth.
Here is a question for the stats experts might not be an easy answer but we have the potential for 6 title winners this week anyone know the record?
We have Andy, Heather. Kyle, Oli, Richard and Eleanor. I would expect minimum 3 out of 6 but all 6 could be possible.
1 down now, obviously, but since the start of 2008, the week with the most (4) GB singles titles in ATP- and WTA-ranked events was week 43 in 2008, when:
- Andy Murray won St Petersburg ATP - Mel South won Port Pirie 25K - James Ward won Rodez 10K+H - Dan Evans won Glasgow 10K
There has been one more week since when 3 GB men won singles titles in ATP-ranked events - week 16 in 2012:
- Jamie Baker won Córdoba 15K - James Ward won Kaohsiung 15K - Josh Goodall won Heraklion 10K
Week 44 in 2010 was the only week since the start of 2008 when 3 GB women won WTA-ranked singles titles:
- Heather Watson won Toronto 50K - Amanda Carreras won La Marsa 10K - Anna Fitzpatrick won Sunderland 10K

The obvious stat that is seems to be missing form the ITF on line scoreboard is match and set duration. It must have been around 2hrs 15mins which is exceptional for just two sets. The stats are no longer available at all, but I think Ignatik may have won more points than Kyle. Excellenmt for Kyle to get used to winning such tight matches! I did suggest it would straightforward though, didn't I
