Ed gets the break !

So nice to see a Brit playing in front of a 'crowd' - must be a good 30-40 people in the stands (and, yes, I know that it's because the other guy's Italian, but one of the consequences of having no challengers is that our guys never really play in front of people)

edit: Ed broken back - even he laughed at himself at his shot selection on the first point.

Do SO hope Ed can hang on - he's doing some major damage with his forehand - really good depth and angles, serving well, energetic . . . and the Italian is not happy . . .

Wow!  Didn't see this coming:

L32:  (Q) Ed Corrie WR 324 defeated (5) Marco Cecchinato (ITA) WR 168 by 7-6(8) 6-3

Drew has his wish!  Ed clearly got his eye in in that tight first set! wink  Eight points to add to the five he picked up for qualifying.  A decent day at the office! smile

****

A familiar face (or should  that be foe, given the number of Brits he's bashed in home Futures?!! evileye ) in the next round:

L16:  Laurynas Grigelis (LTU) WR 244 (CH 183 in July 2012) vs (Q) Ed Corrie WR 324

And really well deserved. Just played well - what more to say . . .

Even the crowd were clapping him quite enthusiastically at times.
