As a team captain myself I would like to see support & recognition in Davis cup for the no1 GB doubles pair that regularly pair together eg So at the moment the highest CR for an all GB pair would be the skupski brothers
A glimspe of How much better Dom & colin Could be in doubles as pair can see seen from the set that that won together .
I think colin Fleming & Jamie Murray Could work or a fit ross Hutchins .
But keep an eye on the skupski brothers &
Marcus Willis & Lewis burton who are steadily climbing up the doubles rankings
If we a going to win the Davis cup in the future and it's entirely possible if got Murray and one of the best doublespairs in the world To give the killer punch
I would contend that in reality Colin and Ross already count as an all GB top 50 doubles pair. The only question mark is whether or not Ross can regains he pre illness form.

I would second that. I would also add that there are very few countries with a top 50 pair the Bryans are obviously the exception but we should remember they are the exception. More often than not, Davis Cup doubles matches are played by pairings that don't play any other tournaments together. We are fortunate to have a number of top 50 doubles players and to ignore our higher ranked players in favour of an established pair would be detrimental to our chances of winning - and at the end of the day it's the winning that matters in Davis Cup not the taking part.

Oh, the all British regular pairs / Skupskis for Davis Cup thing again.
As a team captain I would like to win Davis Cup ties above all ! And any combination of Andy, Colin and Dom is more likely to win a DC doubles rubber than any regular British partnership ( and only the Skupskis currently are even a very passing consideration ).
As I enquired before in your previous similar lines post, Gary, would you not prefer to win Davis Cup ties as against gestures ?

What I am saying is what a waste that although around 7 GB players in the top
100 Doubles only 1 all GB pair it be nice if they could start getting on together and pairing together .
Colin & ross were a top 50 pair and I genuinely hope ross gets back to his orginal form and plays Davis cup and wins a rubber that would be a fairy tale story

Gary, while it may indeed be "nice" if there were more top all British partnerships ( quite a number of folk would no doubt agree with you ), you have more than once now gone further and suggested the best ranked regular pair should play Davis Cup.
I ask ( yet again ) is that more important to you than GB winning Davis Cup ties ?
I'd guess there's a difference, isn't there, between what I think Mr Lewis is saying on the one hand - which is that he'd like to see more encouragement for Brits to pair up - and saying that one thinks the top GB doubles pair should play, even if they're not actually the best players (or the best for the needs of the team). I can't really believe he would feel the latter - though may be proved wrong!
While I'm very sympathetic on the former, I'm not really sure how much one can do to encourage home-nation pairings at the highest level. In the top 100, you're not necessarily going to find the best match of skills and styles within your own nation. Making all GB pairings should be more possible at Futures and small Challengers level - there are more options and a new team's weaknesses aren't going to be exploited quite so ruthlessly by opponents. So it may well be possible to find two players who match up well and help them to grow as a team ... as Mr Lewis is doing. How far they go, of course, is the question they and we are waiting to see answered!
