RE: Week 6 - ATP 250 Series: Open Sud de France - Montpellier (indoor hard) - doubles

Looks as though Delgo & Andreas made a reasonable fist of their encounter with the top seeds:

R1: (1) André Begemann & Martin Emmrich (GER/GER) CR 89 (47+42) defeated Jamie Delgado & Andreas Siljeström (SWE) CR 211 (109+102) by 6-3 7-6(1) cry

One QF match-up decided:

QF:  Nikolay Davydenko & Denis Istomin (RUS/UZB) CR 444 (353+91) vs (4) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 143 (67+76)

And the other one of interest to us Brits.  It won't be a stroll in the park, either:

QF:   (3) Paul Hanley (AUS) & Jonny Marray CR 124 (81+43) vs Marc Gicquel & Nicolas Mahut (FRA/FRA) CR 184 (159+25)

Gicquel and Mahut have taken the first set 6-4.

36 year-old Giquel beat Gilles Simon today so he must be feeling pretty chipper (although it might be Mahut doing all the work and Marc making a lot of noise!).

As I'd half-feared:

QF:   Marc Gicquel & Nicolas Mahut (FRA/FRA) CR 184 (159+25) defeated (3) Paul Hanley (AUS) & Jonny Marray CR 124 (81+43) by 6-4 7-6(4) cry

Lousy day for the Brits in the south of France!  All interest now ended as the Skupskis bite the dust as well! cry

QF:  Nikolay Davydenko & Denis Istomin (RUS/UZB) CR 444 (353+91) defeated (4) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 143 (67+76) by 4 & 4

Kind of expected it... hmm

Watched a bit of the Skupski's. It really was just a case of playing against two very good singles players drilling returns and winners from the back of the court.
