It will be interesting to see how Samm comes back from the US college system in a few years time. I watched him play a few times last summer and there is certainly some potential there, good lefty forehand and a nice solid backhand.
QF: (LL) Jason Jung & Evan King (USA/USA) CR 793 (457+336) vs (PR) Adham El-Effendi (USA) & Darren Walsh CR 1238 (914+324)
Fingers crossed for the comeback pair: the lucky losers took out the third seeds, Mirzadeh & Polansky (CR 319), by 3 & 2 yesterday, so will be no pushovers. That said, they were the top seeds in the qualifying competition, but were beaten in the FQR by Halebian & Novikov...
As (bad) luck would have it, Darren & Adham are in the top half of the draw & the only seeds left in the draw are the N° 1 pair, Sam Groth & the Gooch.
Victor Estrella has started winning matches once again, I see. He needs about 165 more points by June to get into the top 100, which he *should* be able to do.
In another part of the world - Alejandro González is now ranked 76, without a single top level win in his account.

I wonder what's the ATP record for being the oldest person to break into the top 100 for the first time? Ignoring people who were around when the rankings were first created, obviously.
All I could find was an unconfirmed equivalent record for the WTA -
I can't find a (what's the demonym again, Dominican Republican? ) there, but I wasn't aware that Haiti once had a player ranked as high as 22. And a globetrotter, too, going by his bio on the ATP site - "Born in Morocco and lived there for 10 years, then lived in Zaire for four years and moved to Bordeaux, France at age 14... speaks fluent English, French, Arabic, Swahili, and Creole".
