RE: Week 6 - Portugal F1 ($10,000) - Vale Do Lobo (Hard)

Oli got the games back with service, only to be broken again in the sixth:  2-4*.  Seven double faults so far, the last giving Domingues the one break point he needed in that game...

Seems to be a bit of a slow starter this week. Let's hope he can turn it around like he has in the previous rounds.

Oli got the break back but got rebroken, courtesy of more double faults and another line call at 40-40. Needless to say he was not happy. Didn't see the first one but this time it did look like the umpire got it wrong. By my eye anyway.

But Oli breaks again. Now *3-4

Undeterred, Oli immediately breaks back:  *3-4.

5 breaks in a row. Oli saves a set point, now serving to stay in it. *4-5

5-5*, break point to Oli...

Saved, and Oli's just saved another game point. Long game this. Deuce.

Oli breaks. smile *6-5.

7 breaks in 11 games so far.

And now to serve for the set . . . wahtever happens, it's great to see Oliver so healthy and fit and moving so well (mind you, the other guy is a veritable rabbit, must have scampered fifty times round the court by now . . .)

SF: (4) Oli Golding WR 400 beat Joćo Domingues (POR) WR 549 (CH 542 in Nov) by 7-6(2) 6-2

Oli has now won the last 17 singles matches he has started! (i.e. ignoring the w/o he gave in the Doha SF)

What's he looking at ranking-wise now Steven (both scenarios)?

About 375 on Monday week if he loses the final, about 360 if he wins it.

Is he playing the final later today?

The final will be later today as long as the weather holds out.

Oli: "Won but disappointed with myself. Have to improve everything for final later today! #backtopraccycourt"

FINAL: (4) Oli Golding WR 400 v (6) Stanislav Vovk (RUS) WR 502 (CH 414 in 2012)

They are actually WR 397 and 498 today, but I'm sticking to last week's rankings on here since it's last week's tournament.
