If you're reading this, Oliver, mega well done - it msut've been really frustrating hanging around with nothing to do for days on end but at least there's a couple of points (minimum) to be had for it.

He now gets the Javier of the Javier/Jaime pair, who's the Q rather than the 8th seed so , presumably (?), that's all good . . .

L16: (4) Oli Golding WR 400 beat Frederico Gil (POR) WR 826 (CH 62 in 2011) by 6-4 1-6 7-6(4)

QF: (4) Oli Golding WR 400 v (Q) Javier Pulgar-García (ESP) UNR (CH 1144 in 2011)

Pulgar-Garcia, who beat his (seeded) twin brother earlier today is at US college, though this is also his first tournament back after (judging from his Twitter) quite a long injury. The QF is scheduled for (correction - see below) tomorrow.

The QFs are on the ITF schedule for later today (as ? v ? in most cases) and it would make sense for them to try to get them played. Maybe they have since been de-scheduled but if you're looking at the ATP OoP, it might just be that they didn't put the matches on there because the players weren't known.

Edit: just checked the ATP OoP - looks like the ? v ? QFs scheduled for today are doubles not singles!

Left work right after he got broken for 5-6 - didn't expect to see him win! Great win.

Downside is that I'm stuck 4 miles from home in torrid weather with my train cancelled and buses all over the place. Not sure how I'm going to get home tonight.

I think the ? v ? matches relate to the doubles, so I am assuming they will play QF and SF singles tomorrow.

Rather unsurprisingly, Oli and his partner have withdrawn from the doubles.

Good stuff from Oli, well fought.

I've had a feeling for a time that this will be a real step-up year for Mr Golding.

Chose not to make the trip to Portugal to watch Oli, mainly because of the weather forecast. Seems like I made the right call given Oli's tweet and the fact that there is no play so far this morning. Predicted to rain for 3 days non stop more or less.

Edit

Oops. My bad. Perhaps the reason that there is no play yet this morning is that Portugal is on "UK time" and not "Spanish time". Always forget that one.

So it is only 10am there and play isn't due to start for another 30 mins anyway. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Signs of like in Portugal. It appears that they have one playable court at least.

No signs of Oli being on court yet though.
