Week 6 - Portugal F1 ($10,000) - Vale Do Lobo (Hard)

LOL  I wonder if that is because they were so hyper competitive that they would risk taking their "on-court" rivalry home with them afterwards.

It seems play got under way a while ago but it must be raining again. No signs of Oli's match getting on court any time soon.

Looks like another long day of waiting ahead. According to the schedule, Oli has a singles and (potentially) two doubles matches to play today. However, if lives scores are to be believed, they should have started 45 mins ago and still no action. So I can only presume it is raining again.

And there is still one L32 match outstanding, so I have no idea how they are going to get the tournament completed.

I assume if the conditions make it simply impossible to finish the tournament by Sunday the whole thing will just be scrapped?

I would have thought that they would be looking for an indoor venue to complete if the forecast is as bad as thought, playing two singles a day.

The doubles draw will probably get lots of withdrawals and become a farce.

I would imagine that they are frantically looking for indoor facilities. But having said that, if there were any available, I am sure they would have already moved there, particularly given the forecast over the weekend.

One possibility that has occured to me is that they are already playing indoors but don't have live scores facilities there.  No tweets from Oli so far with regard to the weather or delays.

I liked Oli's tweet from yesterday : "pushing into unchartered areas of boredom . . . ." You've got to feel for them all.

Yeah - and watching Fulham this year has not been a joy and pleasure . . . . guess it's not boring though - gives him something to rant about !

There seems to be some play in Portugal now. Whether that is indoors or outsdoors is another question.

I would guess they're still playing outside. Although the forecast is rain today and at the weekend, the hourly forecasts suggest the rain is very unlikely to be as persistent as it was yesterday.

Oli finally gets on court. Early days as Gil opens with a hold.

Edit

Oli replies with a hold to love.  1-1*

And having held to love, Oli follows up by breaking to love. *2-1

Vamos.

Very strange that with the backlog, they are only starting with two courts and not using the other courts until mid afternoon.

Possibly the other courts haven't drained as well and are still a bit slippery.
