Was just reading through the thread, knew he would break immediately in the second set after the shocking first set, his matches so often follow that pattern.

I sometimes get the impression that if he is playing badly in the first set he will often give up on it and focus on getting things right at the start of the second.

Definitely.

I remember that's what happened in the Vancouver final against Pospisil.

Ah. Mmmm. I think this might be the end of the line - but a magnificent week nontheless. 51points?

 Who is Evo's top scalp?

Surely you've been here long enough to know of this by now?

I'd forgotten about this so many thanks for reminding me, and for running it if it's you who does.

To you (or whoever does run it), I know I don't do anything similar so I'm not complaining (promise) but just an idea - would it be possible to have a column with GB Player's Ranking on That Day ? I see the ranking of the player they beat but I've no idea of their ranking at the time so I can't really judge how good it was. (No real prob for the very recent players, of course, but I've no idea for the older ones). Just an idea . . . .

It's been an interesting week for qualifiers and lucky losers. Apart from Evo there a few others have also reached the QF's at their respective tournaments.
Evo, Phau, Taro Daniel, Olivetti and his massive serve and last but not least Gicquel who is almost 37 and has beaten Llodra and Simon!

Talking of Phau, he's just swept aside Dudi Sela (WR 78) by 4 & 3 to reach the semi-final!  Sela himself dumped the sixth seed, Lukas Rosol (WR 49), out of the competition in the first round... disbelief

So it took a third set TB to finally see off Papi Giquel  cry
