Slight caution re. the above - the draw has now disappeared again. It is probably just the ITF site playing up but might just imply a mistake was made and they are doing a re-draw.

Some good news - there will be live streams for Centre Court and Show Court 4.

Naomi is due to play at 11 pm GMT this evening but I haven't worked out yet whether there is any chance of her being on the live stream.

Naomi has managed to lose the first set 7-5

Ouch!

The bookies only gave Perez a 20% chance of winning the match. However, there have been some bizarre scorelines here, e.g. the first three seeds to play all lost in R1 and they suffered four bagels between them! (*)

This was Perez's first match win at this level - there's a recent article about her at http://acelandtennis.com.au/news/358-talented-perez-on-the-cusp-of-tournament-success.html, though I'm not sure it does much to explain the result.

Edit - more seeds lost today:

- the 2nd seed went out in straight sets to a qualifier
- the 5th seed got thrashed 3 & 0
- the 6th seed got thrashed 1 & 2
- the 7th seed went out in 3 sets (1 of them a bagel)
- the 8th seed got double-bagelled

The 1st and 4th seeds survived and the 3rd seed hasn't played yet.

No doubt some of the seeds were over-ranked or were playing under-ranked opponents, but that's a pretty extreme set of results!
