RE: Week 5 - Great Britain F3 ($10,000) - Sheffield (Hard)

nice one for Dave Rice I think he can get near top 200. Is Corrie going to slide down the rankings loads of points to defend early part of the year

Unfortunately yes, the way things are looking now, but of course there are still various ways he could start gaining more points, so it's not a foregone conclusion.

It's a bit early to be looking at year-to-date points, but there's already quite an intriguing race for the positions behind Andy after just 5 weeks. Here they are down to 10th= - the top 9 match the current top 9 but in a very different order:

420 Andy (GB 1 at the start of this week)
40 James (3)
38 Dan S (8)
29 Dave (6)
28 Kyle (7)
20 Evo (2)
13 Ed (5)
8 Dan C (4)
4 Marcus (9)
3 Tom (17) & Harry (44)

The Davis Cup players could yet add more points this week if day 3 is still live, of course.

We have seen many players climb and climb the rankings over a 12 month spell where everything they do seems to add to or improve their points score. The next year most of us predict another (more modest) rise in the prediction tables yet the players ranking goes backwards. When good point scores are dropping of on a regualr basis most players seem to have a hard time dealing with it. We have a few Brits who could suffer this way during 2014.

All that said, Ed seems to have a decent game and, has picked up a few points at challengers as well. He may go backwards a bit but I think he's proved that he's too good a player to drop like a stone. To finish the year with a similar ranking to how he started it would be a fairly good achievment in my book, maybe going forwards again by 2015???

I think Ed is a decent player but doesn't have the talent of say Dan Evans. For me Ed will always revolve around 300 in rankings

I agree. Ed is a good futures player but I don't think he has what it takes to make it at challenger level.

On a more positive note, well done Dave on taking the title. A good start to the season.
