Meister is the guy who would have made the singles main draw had Evo withdrawn in a timely manner. As it was he lost in the second round of qualifying.
With all the talk of Dan and Kyle for the Davis Cup spot, it'd be typical (and good) if James now had a good run here.......................here's hoping!
Will be interesting to see the reason on the bottom of draw sheet once it's updated on the ATP site. Wonder if they'll go with a simple 'absent' rather than list some sort of ailment.

It says "LATE"...
There is absolutely no excuse for pulling out days in advance and not informing the tournament and withdrawing formally through the standard ATP channels. Whatever Dan's actual reasons for not playing (and all the mood music suggests that they were lame at best, or non existent at worst), the least he could do was withdraw properly. It does him and GB tennis no favours to be doing stuff like this overseas. Even if he is angry with someone, that's not the fault of the Hawaii challenger. Unfortunately any sane observer seeing the dip in his form, the unexplained flying home to GB despite an agreed itinerary and tournament schedule, his failure to withdraw from Hawaii formally, and his subsequent demotion from the DC squad.........could only conclude there is something significant at play behind the scenes. Will we ever find out? Just how many chances can a person be given?
good luck James tonight. I don't think he'll win, but I would love him to play a blinder!!!!

Well given his apparent claim that training indoors is the right move you would assume that he will at least try and rationalise that be playing indoors in the coming weeks, starting with Zagreb or Montepellier qualifying in week 6. If he goes on a good run he will at least be able to make the case that he made the right decision even if it seems he handled it in a less than stellar fashion. You do have to wonder though if his bridges are well and truly burnt with the LTA. Leon has clearly gone out on a limb for Dan on several occasions and will have every right to be pretty upset over what has happened.
EDIT: I see he has entered a challenger in France in week 7 where he should be seeded. (Ward is also there).
