Thanks for the reports, Philwrig. I had a quick read through your tweets about Harry's match when I got back early this afternoon - and you'll have gathered that I was following the ones about the 25K from the RTs!

Dave Rice comes back to win the first set 6-4
Dan C carries on, winning 6-2
Dan S doesn't manage to undo the pesky Dutchman and loses the first set 6-3
Mertens always seems to do well in the British futures, would be such a shame for him to go on and win it. Hopefully Smethurst can keep up his recent form and take him

I agree, I seem to think he's going to beat David Rice in the final.....I say this because I am always wrong and hoping to make it so by putting it in print.

I wonder what happened in the 1st set between Dan and Arends - it makes Clay's loss look a lot more respectable anyway! Great that all 3 got through. SF H2Hs are:
Dan v Dave 1-2 - Dan won 0 & 1 in 2005, Dave won in 3 sets in 2009 and by retirement in 2012. None of those seem very relevant, admittedly!
Dan v Yannick - 0-1, 5 & 2, Middelburg (clay) 2011

Mertens has always seemed to me to be the type of guy that gets his ranking up to challenger level but then keeps dropping down and playing futures instead of stick with it at challenger level.
He's had reasonable success at challengers making quite a few QF's but only making a couple of semis.
