Well that wasn't in the script.

Marcus (frustrated and honest): "Not a lot worse than the feeling of losing and not playing anywhere near your A game. #stinker #rooney #gunk #reeps #rustyandcrusty #booooo"

Perhaps not a huge surprise given Vaisse's recent form, but the Frenchman has held to love twice and broken Lewis twice to lead 4-0*

However, Lewis now has a game point ...

Vaisse won the 1st set 6-2 but since being 4-0 down, Lewis has won 4 out 7 games ... and now he has his first break point of the match but Vaisse saves it ... and saves another

2-6 *2-2

The first step taken by Lewis & Marcus along the road to back-to-back titles:

R1: (1) Lewis Burton & Marcus Willis CR 643 (316+327) defeated (ALT) Tobias-Maximilian Dankl & Igor Tubic (GER/SWE) UNR by 4 & 0

Three singles points between the two of them is not what the doctor ordered.

Marcus went over on the pretence that the tournaments in Israel were weaker than in the UK, but this has backfired due to a mix of poor form and awkward draws.

They should get their doubles ranking up as they have an easier time in Eilat than facing the likes of Rice and Thornley.

Marcus and Lewis win their first round doubles match 6-4 6-0 which, I guess, is some small consolation . . .

Too early to be in anyway critical of Marcus or Lewis with regards to singles...

Marcus lost to a very good under ranked player last week and just didn't play brilliant first up this week unfortunately. Lewis was totally outclassed last week against Huang and for the 1st set of today but did fair better in the second set getting to the net much more and putting on the pressure

Fingers crossed for the doubles

Did Marcus win the doubles 1/4 final can not see live scores in Iran

Currently 6-2 3-1 up, so looking good.

We need to start focusing on challengers & aim to reach some SF to climb the rankings

Be interesting to see out Marcus & Lewis would fare vs skupski

Where are they off after playing GB F4? Did they decide on Indian challengers or more GB futures
