Although, if both successful in R1, Dom and partner would be due to meet Jamie & partner in R2 (L16), I see that Colin and partner couldn't run into Ross and partner until the QF. If both got that far I wouldn't really be bothered at all about them meeting then and thus guaranteeing a semi finalist.
R1: (5) Anabel Medina & Bruno Soares (ESP/BRA) CR 34 (31+3) defeated Cara Black (ZIM) & Jamie Murray CR 62 (14+48) by 2 & 4
That was always going to be tough, but why in God's name did the schedulers have to make him play two matches in the same day after his heatstroke the other day? Interestingly, though, John Peers, playing alongside Ash Barty, managed to overcome RKJ & TCH by 3 & 4. Impressive!

Presumably because a player having suffered from heatstroke two days before is not something the schedulers should take into account when making their decisions.

If they did take that into account that would have been pathetic.
I wonder how much the prize money for mixed doubles? Is it good??
Approx figures
R1: £2,000 per team
R2: £4,000 per team
QF: £8,000 per team
SF: £18,000 per team
F: £36,000 per team
W: £72,000 per team
So no not that good but since virtually everyone in it will be playing men's / women's doubles (over £7,000 per team for a first round loss) it doesn't really need to be.

But as long as the schedulers would have made no particular provision for anyone else, eg. a very high profile player, I have no problem with them not factoring in Jamie's heatstroke episode.
The Aussie-Brit combination (who have 3 Commonwealth Games 2010 gold medals between them, plus a silver because Colin & Joss beat Anastasia in the mixed final) prevail against a pair containing former a former women's doubles no. 3 & a former men's doubles no. 1
Did Pennetta/Fognini play in the end? Aus open site has it as Hradecka/Emmrich. Dom (and Spears) still won though...
You're quite right, DWH. I confess I didn't look beyond the result, which, if anything, was marginally better than if the Italians had played! Error duly rectified.
