Both Jade and Katy doing great so far

and katy's just won the first set 6-1 as i write. :)

NB someone wrote above how good it was to see her playing so consistently at this level and I thought, 'well said'; she's made a big jump up the rankings in the last few months (mainly from the 'questionable' value Egypt futures, which I support) and it wouldn't have been a surprise if she'd had a slight rocky patch trying to consolidate. So great for her that her results have continued to be so good, and this would be a sign, presumably, that she's got a fair bit of mileage upwards to go before she 'stabilises' for a while.

Also, due to weight and height (ie MAJOR lack of), Jade certainly is slightly limited and doesn't have a flashy, impressive game but I was impressed by her too at the Wimbly qualies - she's got some excellent qualities. Definitely some potential upside.

Bit of a test for Katy today, I thought. Er, ... (though she has just been broken back in the 2nd - 6-1 3-3*

As for Jade, I hope she's going to serve out the 1st set - she's actually had 14 break points, taking just 2, while Sugnaux has had just 2, taking 1.

... and Jade does take the 1st set, 6-4

Good to see the younger players are playing well here. Hopefully it is the start of their jump

i watching lauren davis last night and think how similar Jade is in statue and build to her so it not always need to be a limit on upper ranks
no doubting that jade works real real hard though and is in great shape
