Glad to see that Jade showed her worth today and proved the naysayers wrong.
Jade won 6-3 6-1 - walk in the park.
I was tempted to comment on the Jade is over-ranked comment yesterday (can't remember who made it now & too lazy to check back) but forgot in the end.
In one sense, maybe she is - the way any British QWC who gets 40 points for winning Wimbledon QR1 after getting a decent draw can be said to be over-ranked. But I don't think she is over-ranked in any other sense - she's a very decent player, very fit with great movement.
She gets a lot of her wins outside the U, which together with the fact that some of her best UK results have come on clay may suggest indoor hard doesn't suit her as well as it does some of her compatriots, but I wouldn't be surprised to see her winning quite a few matches in 25Ks this year.

I don't think Jade is overranked either I'd say along with Lisa 300 is about right for them. Can see them both competing at 25k level and maybe 50k on a good day but no higher. It's very difficult when players get to 250-300 to kick on higher simply because it's a different level altogether. Almost a different sport.

I agree with the last bit but I think Lisa in particular could go quite a lot higher. It's going to be tough this year after the long lay-off, even if she does manage to come back in April as planned, but if the shoulder surgery has actually worked and she can play with less pain, I don't see why she wouldn't be able to make at least the top 200.

2 hard fought losses for manisha today
just went down 11-9 in the MTB in dubs
manisha and jess ren (WR1788) got bageled in the first set but came back against top seeds (WR484)
1 point for her singles efforts seems scant reward
but her day will come i think
see what she can do next week in sundaland
Excellent performances from our girls today. Four through and Manisha and Maia put up a great fight.
I was the one who said Jade was over ranked. Actually Jade is one of the few GB girls I've not seen play live. I based my thoughts on her sudden rise to prominence on the clay in Bournemouth after having minimal success and then some decent performances in the summer/autumn.
I hope I'm proved wrong.
As for the quarters, Tara seems a bit out of form at the moment and an Anna win would be no surprise. Katy has another tough match, but given her form, no reason why she cannot carry on winning. I would like Jade to win and I think she probably will.
In the short term Jade's ranking is only going to improve. She has no points due to come off before early May when the 12 points for winning that 10K last year in Bournemouth come off.
