Virus problems

Anyone else having virus problems on this site.  For the last two days, every time I navigate from one page to another, I get a virus warning. I am running AVAST and it is telling me that it is "Blocking a harmful webpage or file".

By the looks of it, the problem is one of the adverts rather than the page itself as it references the page

but to say that it is becoming mildly annoying would be an understatement. I have only been on the site for about 10 mins this morning and it has already come up 17 times !!

No. Why don't you install an ad-blocking utility? I use Google Chrome as my browser, and their Adblocker works well - I assume there are others for other browsers.

I only get the amazon.com ad at the top - no others. How many are you getting?

Yes. That Amazon ad is the only one that I get. But when the "blocked" meesage comes up, that ad doesn't appear.  Made me think that the problem was embedded into that Amazon ad.

It could just be your AV program giving a false-positive - the fact that nobody else's AV software is producing any alerts seems to make that quite likely. Better safe than sorry maybe, but I can easily imagine how frustrating it must be.

Perhaps best if none of us click on the Amazon ad for the moment though ... as if any of us ever did

False Positive ? Interestingly it offers me the option to report the file as a "False Positive". I assume that means it is registering something as a virus that isn't actually a virus.

OK. So I logged in again this morning hoping the problem would have gone away. No chance. Same virus message, no Amazon advert.

Then I nip off to the hospital for a progress report following the shoulder op. When I get back, I hit refresh. Amazon advert is back and virus message is gone. How wierd is that. But what a relief.

Thanks to everyone for feedback and advice.

And how was the progress report ? Are the docs happy with how your shoulder's going ? Are you happy with the progress ?

signed: concerned

PS If it's causing you grief, I'd donate it to an alter ego, maybe that'd make it go away . . .

Thanks for asking. I got a rundown today of exactly what was done during surgery - not that I understood it all !!  There were 4 problems apparently and not one. There was calcification of the bones, one of the tendons was partially torn having been scratched to death but the calcium deposits, there was a tear in the "labrum" (had to look that one up later) and consequently the head of the humerous was slightly out of the socket.  Basically, it was a mess.

Had an assessment with the physio this morning and should start rehab later this week.  The good news is (a) the op went very well and (b) there is no pain. The downside is restricted movement, but that was always going to be the case. Each day though, I get a slight improvement, but I am just going to have to be patient. C'est la vie.  Poco a poco.

Ouch! And ouch again . . . . Hope you have a good physio and a nice long run of rehab - it can take a long time but I think physios are great - and be a good boy and do what he/she says! smile
