As Colin and Ross did in the last round, Dom & Treat take the 1st set off the 7th seeds, winning it 6-4

Great stuff !!

Now, re Davis Cup, especially with playing with various different partners, it must be difficult to judge who are really the best GB doubles players just now, and who would best pair up with Andy ( assuming the plan is for him to play doubles ). And even more difficult for someone like myself, who sees a limited amount of doubles.

But how would anyone care to assess how Dom currently compares against Colin, and maybe Jamie and Jonny too ?

I think the rankings (despite being very partner-dependent) are right in this case - Dom probably has been the best of them overall over the last 12 months and I think he'd prove to be mentally strong in San Diego too - the only problem is that he has the least experience partnering any of the others (or Andy), i.e. none unless you count a few matches with Jonny Marray, who'd probably not in contention at the moment anyway.

Great result for the pair, so glad to see BBD doing well next match should be against the Bryans I think which could prove a step too far but there's always hope and after that it's only two more matches for the title... not that I'm getting ahead of myself you understand

Fantastic result that. Who do they face in the QFs?

RE Davis Cup, if Murray plays you'd assume he'd have a say in who he partners and you'd assume he'd prefer to go for someone he's played with before, so I imagine Colin or Jamie would be the likely candidates. But who knows. It would be harsh on Dom given his form, but the partnership itself is often more important than the players involved and Leon would have to do what's best for the team. Going to be a tricky decision to make, regardless.

What a pleasant dilemma to have though.

We shan't know until tomorrow, but almost certainly the Bryans.

Byrans out to Klaasen/Butorac 6+4, Klaasen played off his head.

Wow. Gives a bit of perspective to Jamie and John's defeat.
