Jamie & John went down an early break in the second set, but patiently worked their way back, only almost to let it slip in a hard-fought eleventh game...:
R1: (15) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 56 (29+27) defeated (WC) Matt Reid & Luke Saville (AUS/AUS) CR 1095 (117+1095) by 7-6(4) 7-6(8)
*****
R2: Eric Butorac & Raven Klaasen (USA/RSA) CR 93 (48+45) vs (15) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 56 (29+27)
I may be wrong (still a bit out of touch after the Christmas/New Year festivities), but I think they may have recent "previous"...

You're not wrong. They've "played" in both the first two tournaments of the year. Murray/Peers won the first encounter comfortably, 6-3, 6-4, and gave a walkover in the second.
Another second-round encounter finally becomes clear & it's going to be a further tough test of the reformed partnership, though I'm pretty sure Ross will relish the challenge:
R2: Colin Fleming & Ross Hutchins UNR vs (7) Rohan Bopanna & Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi (IND/PAK) CR 29 (14+15)
Jamie Murray suffering from heat stroke and would not have been able to continue into another set.
The story as reported by the Beeb. I thought the Oz Open was one tournament at which all the players said they were well treated. If you ask me, the refusal of the organisers to contemplate invoking the "extreme heat" policy much sooner than they have is a pretty funny way of demonstrating it!
The doctor's comments don't seem unusually helpful; and the point I've heard several times about the ATP and WTA not being effective player unions seems quite apt. (And, for the record, while I'm not a palaeoclimatologist or a palaeoanthropologist, I strongly doubt that our early ancestors were off chasing antelopes for eight hours in 108 degree heat on a regular basis.)
Gee, having that guy as chief medical officer doesn't inspire confidence !
I am all for playing when it isn't dangerous, as some players just adapt better to conditions like blowing a gale and should be given their chance. But I presume some of our ancestors died chasing these antelopes or maybe they knew when it was just plain daft to do so.

Just read this - the guy's a muppet.
And completely agree with Spectator (love those words!) and Indiana - we don't have a system of natural selection and survival of the fittest (hence why we 'allow' vaccinations, operations and a zillion and one other medical interventions); the fact that tens and tens of thousands of years ago, a few guys had to endure extreme temperatures and managed to, as opposed to the others who dropped dead, is hardly a sound basis (and anyway we evolved from the species in East Africa - it's not even that hot there).
And, anyway, are antelope even awake and 'chase-able' when it's 45 degrees ?

And another:
R2: (12) Dom Inglot & Treat Huey (PHI) CR 50 (22+28 vs Andreas Seppi & Potito Starace (ITA/ITA) CR 150 (67+93
I hope the boys didn't do all the hard work to clear the Cabal/Farrah hurdle only to fall at this, apparently rather less testing, one!

All that may change at the ATP with Chris Kermode, the man responsible for the success of the WTF at the O2, but who inexplicably got away from the LTA, now at the helm...
