Vanni was out for 4 months from February to June last year, and then in the remainder of the year just had some relatively very poor looking results.
Pity for Marcus if Vanni has somehow refound himself in the close season, but the victory over Weintraub did indicate that he might be back to a much better level.
It's a shame that Marcus couldn't get the win today but its not a bad start to the year if you lose to a player who has had a much higher rank quite recently and also dispatched Weintraub. Onwards and upwards from here hopefully. The best of luck to Marcus and Lewis for the doubles final.
Very comfortable win, one break of serve each set.
They had the match scheduled for the televised court 1 but it seem to be moved to court 2 for some reason. Fingers crossed they continue this in F2 and F3!
Marcus Willis & Lewis Burton maintain their record of winning an average of 2 future titles pcm since regularly pairing up in sept 2013 by winning the Israeli F1 . They have won more pro doubles titles than any other GB doubles pair during that period .

Hopeful that can get the Hatrick of doubles titles
Expect the boys to win the doubles, however it looks like Mr.Vanni is one of those ranking ringers, who should be playing challengers.
Although agree that from a selfish GB peresctive it would be better if Mr vanni & weintraub were absent the same could be said of most European futures including GB where Grigelis seems to have got into the full spirit of EU migration to GB .
In saying that I am eternally indebted to the EU for its expansion and are proud to have 2 fantastic employees from mr Grigelis homeland - I just wish he may decide to terrorise another country's futures Events .
But well done to young Dan smethurst even though he was now leapfrogged wilbomb in the GB league table
