I wonder what went wrong. Savchuk beat another in form player yesterday as well, but I didn't think JoKo would have much trouble tonight. The scoreline and the UE count seems to suggest more than just an off day.

Some results are often rather odd early in the season as certain players have had step change off-seasons (fitness, commitment, new coaching, new resolutions), and others have not knuckled down, slipped back into old ways, or are simply doing the wrong things (eg too much). Some players look like they have progressed hugely and are "on fire", others just the opposite. I've noticed Pavly, Cirstea, Aga all showing very average form, yet Keys and Pironkova are suddenly on a different level. Whether this is a blip, or the result of the off-season will be interesting. None of our players, except Hev, appear to have come out of the traps fast this year.
JoKo's result IS very underwhelming........the scoreline in particular
Very poor result from Jo but Brits are incapable of beating Savchuk so no real surprise
Before today, Savchuk had lost 3 of her last 5 matches against Brits:
AusOpen Q 2012 - Laura beat her 1 & 6 French 25K 2012 - Naomi beat her 6-0 2-6 6-2 Mexico 25K 2013 - Anne lost to her 4 & 6 Toronto WTA 2013 - Hev lost to her 3 & 3 US Open Q 2013 - Bally beat her 3 & 0
