Clearly the Yorkshire Evening Post has got a bit carried away with its rhetoric and / or lacks understanding of different ranking tables given that Serena is undoubtedly not now nor has been the "best under 16" in the country. The best under 16s ( or rather 16s and under ) are such as Gabbi Taylor, Maia Lumsden and Katie Swan who have just been in action at the US Open Junior Girls and have had considerately more success in ITF junior tournaments.
That's by the way though to congratulating Serena on her British Tour success and hoping to see her develop well. I do think having the aggression and ability to hit great shots first and then to develop consistency is generally better than the other way round.
Young Serena Nash has made her second British Tour Final in two weeks, up at Loughborough, beating Dasha who unfortunately had to retire at 4-6 1-2 down.
Serena will play Olivia Nicholls in the final, who beat Jess Simpson in the quarters.
Last I remember Cecil had dropped out of college in America to go pro (as she was destroying opponents in NCAA events and starting to do well in ITFs) then she got injured... Surprised to see her here at a random British Tour event. Is she living over here?
Don't know anything about Mallory, apart from the fact that she's also down for the BT event this week in Wrexham, so is obviously enjoying playing a bit of tennis !
Dasha, Charlotte Pearce and Beth Askew are the other main seeds
Despite the seedings, I'm surprised top seed Dasha beat 3rd seed Charlotte (despite getting bagelled in the 2nd set too!) - she will play 2nd seed Beth in the Final.
The Brits are doing well at keeping the non-Brits (Cecil here and Wietoska in the men's event) out of the finals
