RE: British Tour 2014

The current British Tour event looks like being a Youth-fest :)

15 year-old Katie Swan, over from the US (for Wimbledon, I assume?) beat Lucy Brown in two easy sets.
16 year-old Anna Brogan beat Jess Simpson
15 year-old Ellie Rose Griffiths won
'Older' youngsters, Jasmine Amber Asghar and Harriet Dart, doing well . . .
Beth Askew probably feels like an old lady !

Jasmine is actually a month younger than Anna B., so I think it's only fair not to consider her an "older" youngster. ;)

Oops, I thought Jasmine was 17.

Right, she can go in the 'kindergarten' lot with the others then smile

To be fair, Jasmine is quite a strong, athletic girl, so, in my opinion, she does look older than she actually is.

So, I'm thinking a Swan - Dart final is on the cards, and it could be an interesting match. Judging by the few clips of Katie that I've seen on YouTube, she already appears to have a game that should translate to success on the pro tour.

However, it appears the women's R2 matches were played on astroturf which very few players are comfortable on and which always throws up unexpected results.

Today it seems matches are 2 sets to 4 and an MTB - hardly worth the effort !!

Katie Swan withdrew. Hope she's OK.

Freya Christie beat Alannah Griffin in a tight match and, in the final, will play Manisha.

Again, I believe the winner gets an automatic place to the wimbly quali play-offs so something to play for . . .

Although I'd be absolutely amazed if Manisha wasn't going to make at least the qualifying play-offs anyway ( if she wants to ), and I'd have Freya in them too.

Me too.

The Lloyd Glasspool one in the boys is more important but I didn't want to just mention the lads, so put it in the girls too.

Good news for Sophie - she's entered a few tour events with her ranking in the summer, so the money will come in handy(assuming she wins)

In the tour event at Frinton this week, the final is:

Manisha Foster v Olivia Nicholls

Olivia plays university tennis at Loughborough and beat Sophie Watts in the semis.

Alicia Barnett, who was ranked WR 1042 in 2012, and is now at Northwestern in Chicago, wins the battle of the college players (the top of the draw with Sophie Watts and Brigit Foland) and makes the semi-final at Ilkley. She'll play Nastasha Hillyer

Charlotte Pearce has beaten Beth Askew and , in the other semi, will play Aimee Gibson.
