For anyone who wants a top-notch freebie of tennis, go to the British Tour event this week in Bournmouth.

Playing there are:

Liam
Luke
Brydan klein
Josh G
Jonny O'mara
Bloomers
Rob Carter
Jathan
Evan

i.e. 2 top 500 players and 8 top 1000 players

That's not far from me actually. Never been to a local tournament before though - do you know where I can get further details?

the LTA main site has the Aegon British Tour Bournmouth as one of the options under Latest Brtisih Events - this gives you the timetable for the day, the draws and says that it's at hte West Hants Club.

Don't know much more than that.

NB I believe that all these are absolutely open to the public (and free) - sometimes when you go to these places though you don;t really get that impression!

Brydan lost the first set against jathan Malik and then retired so hope he's OK, but well done to Jathan all the same. Luke Bambo won the other QF 6-4 6-3 v David Porter. (two other QFs not up)

Interesting. Hasn't Luke generally been coming out on top in their ITF clashes ?

A stomach complaint apparently. Was doubled up at times during an earlier round.

Why is a player once comfortably ranked top 300 as an eighteen year old, doing playing British Tour at age 24? Why the ranking drop?

Richard Bloomfield d. Harry Skinner 6-4 6-4 in this weeks Tier 2 final. I think Bloomers is trying to stay fit for a crack at the grass season, hope it goes well for him.

Matthew Short beat Bloomers in 3 sets in the final at Sutton this week. I say "3" sets, but the 3rd appears to be a MTB as used in the doubles now.

Well done to Matt. Nice to see some results. He must have legged it pretty much straight over to France where he had a long, tight three-setter today that he managed to win. Good stuff.

Josh Sapwell beat Bloomers 6-4 6-1,, having only made the MD by qualifying.

As a reminder, Josh only lost 7-6 in the third set to Coupland when they played earlier this year. He's had a lot of problems with injury (arm/shoulder). And is one of the few not off to US college, I think.

So, well done to him.

George Coupland has made the final, no problem.

However, Rob Carter WR 817 was beaten by David Wright, a qualifier, who also beat Serbian WR 1508, on his way to the final
