hmmm how could you stop them entering? I don't know how old they are but would Under25s help? or Under23s? Or make it only for players who have never had a singles world ranking?
It's an open competition, so anyone can enter as long as they have a suitable ranking. They are entitled to enter, i'm just surprised that the competition is lacking the depth that they can still win regularly.
Both are still decent players, but Bloomers was coaching at the LTA(i'm not sure what he is doing now) and Josh has a job coaching at a private school.
Ah I see so they are full time coaches first, part-time players second. Rather than full time players still trying to make it and progress up the world rankings.
I'm not sure the British Tour was designed for the likes of Bloomers or Goodall to take the prize money.... I think it was meant for up and coming players to pick up some cash to help fund their career.
I see Goodall has his eye on the masters money now - £2000 for winning.
Think its real purpose was to provide a level of competition for British players between the juniors and futures, with a bit of prize-money thrown in. I think it works really well. It provides extra match practice and prize money for those at the lower end of futures, especially for those not yet winning regularly on the pro circuit. They can slot in to a BT draw on Wednesday or Thursday once knocked out of a pro draw. It also really does help the juniors to raise their game. I'm sure the LTA wish the big prizes went to more current players but both Josh and Bloomers have enhanced the competition by being strong opponents for those coming up.
Prize money is paid down to QF in the women's and L16 in the men's (discrepancy because men have both qualifying and pre-qualifying) so it's been spread around quite a few players during the year
I'm guessing Bloomers has won it and Neil will consolidate runners up position.
The girls is a little closer between Mollie and Beth
Yea you're right - was hoping Neil might top the board again this year, but Bloomfield just played too many tournaments for Neil to keep up.
Injury eeens end to be fully healed. Tough first week back with 2 matches a day after nearly 6 weeks out though!
I know the British tour is also good for players who have been out injured and are coming back in to it. It gives them a good stepping stone back in to the pro tour.
Neil took the title according to his tweet earlier. So if SHerbert is reading this, please pass on my congratulations. Here's hoping for a good and injury free 2015.
