Glasgow looks rather loaded for both the men and women at the moment, although I suspect there will be a lot of withdrawals in the next few days.
I know i've had a few digs at the LTA on here before for not supporting the up and coming players by putting on women's 10Ks, but we haven't really got that many that would make main draw.
Generally, these are 450-800 ranked players so just:
Anna, Katy, Lucy, Dasha, Laura D, Anna F, Manisha, Katie B.
Of the other potential players to benefit, Harriet, Jess Simpson and Fran plus the juniors would be the ones the LTA would like to see progress(I assume)
I see Jade and Sam have entered, but their future lies in 25K+ tournaments.
Of those left Anna and Katy will soon be moving up to 25K level. Katie B has not entered, Manisha is based in Spain and there are a few of the girls watching the Egypt/Spain list to decide where to play.
This could lead to one of the least populated GB entries in a GB 10K for sometime.
Sam and Jade will be seeded. Anna is almost certainly in and I suspect Katy will be too, but I cannot see any more, which will leave the wildcards extremely difficult to select from. Jasmine and Izzy should get two of them.
Well the withdrawal deadline is tomorrow when the ITF offices open again, so expect to see a lot of withdrawals then.
Yep, agree, most people leave it to the last minute.
There's a lot of withdrawals that are dated today (1st Jan) though so I guess that the online system has been working fine.
It isn't the case that lots players leave it till the last minute. What happens is that at the withdrawal deadline players are automatically withdrawn from all events other than their highest remaining choice.
