RE: Week 50 - ITF ($10K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hard

Either the scoring has gone down or it's raining - possibly the latter, looking at the forecast

Not a bad way to end 2013, this.

Does anyone know whether it was rain?

Judging by Katy's twitter account, I'd say yes:

dunne_katy ‏@katydunne 3h
as if its raining in egypt right now! i mean i wore an overtop for the whole match n there were specks of rain but seriously, proper rain!?

It was and the matches have now been rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

Sharm only gets 4 days of rain in November per decade so it's pretty unusual but not as unusual as today's snow in Cairo, which (depending on how you classify snow) only occurs once a century or so.

There are multiple competing classifications of snow?

Actually, that makes some sense, and could explain some of the excuses First Capital Connect come up with for why the train is late.

Harriet could have to play three matches today. Should be starting up with QF to finish, a potential semi and a doubles semi with Katy at some stage.

Katy will play the 15 yr old French girl in the semi, between 8.30 and 9am on court 3

Katy underway in her semi final. Both girls held serve in the opening service games.

Cannot see Harriet's score(not on bookie sites) so any updates appreciated.

Katy breaks and holds 4-1 up

Harriet's QF should have finished by now but her match isn't showing up on ITF live scores at all (today's or yesterday's)

Katy is 4-1* up

I've found a score update for Harriet (6-0 0-1) but that must be out of date by now given that she was due to resume at 07.00 GMT.

The winner of Harriet's match will almost certainly play Liebens on the streamed court. Liebens is not one of Harriet's favourite players....

Meanwhile Katy takes the first set 6-3

That's quite a score, so far . . . no idea what it is now (or what the finished result is) so just putting out into the ether : come on Harriet !

Katy should win this match without too much trouble - Tessah is still very young (just turned 15) and not at all experienced, Katy is the more solid player, and it can't have been easy for Tessah to come out one game away from defeat to finish her match, and win it, against the Russian AND then to have to start the next one.

Still no complete score for Harriet's QF but a refresh of live scores shows her SF so she must have won

QF: (7) Katy Dunne WR 626 beat (Q) Nina Stojanovic (SRB) UNR (junior WR 17) by 6-4 7-6(3)
QF: Harriet Dart WR 1231 beat Liudmila Vasilyeva (RUS) WR 747 (= CH) by 6-0 7-6(5)

SF: (7) Katy Dunne WR 626 leads (Q) Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (FRA) UNR (15yo world junior no. 216) by 6-3 4-0*
SF: Harriet Dart WR 1231 v (2) Klaartje Liebens (BEL) WR 499 (= CH)

Harriet's H2H v Liebens is 0-3 - the Belgian has knocked her out of two of her last three tournaments, 3 & 3 in Manchester and then 1 & 2 last week.
