Jodie moves to 358 on the back of that win and still has two singles non scorers and three doubles, so will jump again when she plays her next junior event and wins a round or two.

As mentioned on another thread:

Katie B now up to 10
Freya climbs to 77
Katie S up to 135
Maia up to 149
Jasmine now 150

Thus we have 10 girls ranked 150 or better. Which bodes well for the future of women's tennis

Thanks for all the moves, paulisi. It was a toss-up whether to tweet 5th 1999 or the slightly easier to phrase 6th youngest in the top 100 but I decided I'd better go with the former since 5 is less than 6!

Having a look at the 2000s too, it turns we only have 3 girls born after 1999 who have ITF junior rankings. Intriguingly, Taiwan has 3 of the top 6 players born in 2000. However, without checking where they got their points, I don't know whether that's meaningful or just an indication that junior tournaments in Taiwan are relatively easy to pick up points from!

In five years time when Taiwan become a world force in ladies tennis, I'll know where I heard it first ;)

I assume Taiwan and Chinese Taipei are the same country.

They have a few senior players(5 in top 500) including Hsieh, Su-Wei who made top 30 and is a top doubles player.

I wouldn't read too much into the 2000 rankings. At this stage they reflect who has opted to play ITF events rather than under 14/ under 16. The one player who has already achieved outstanding results at G1/GA level though, and is near to the top 100, is Destanee Aiava (Australia)

Yes, the Taiwanese call it Taiwan (or the equivalent in Chinese, anyway) or Republic of China and use a different flag when they get the choice but the IOC calls it Chinese Taipei so as not to ruffle the feathers of the People's Republic. An uneasy compromise which naturally (in my albeit relatively limited experience) Taiwanese people hate.

The rankings are now out and the big changes in the boys are:

Jamie Malik - win at G4 takes him to 208
Samuel Chaudry - climbs to 179
Marcus Walters - climbs to 348

3 boys within the top 100, 9 boys in top 200

For the girls:

Katie drops down to 25 ( nothing to defend until Wimbledon now)
Jodie goes to 216
Georgina Axon to 316

5 girls within top 100, 12 girls within top 200

Interesting that the top 100 / top 200 stats are much closer than I would have imagined ( I have been following the girls much more than the boys, because I felt there were many better prospects there ).

I guess the age distribution though does look much more favourable for the girls.

New rankings have just been published:

Jamie Malik up to 179
Mason Recci up to 253
Marcus Walters now 326
Luke Oakley now 349

Max Stewart and Daniel Bennett both climb inside the top 450

Katie B climbs 2 places to 23 despite not playing and should continue to climb once the French points are wiped off

Gabi is at 112
Emily now at 148
Eden up to 236
Holly H up to 306
Alannah up to 394
Ema now 420

Just out of interest on the Katie v Katy v Eleanor debate - Katie has a junior CH of 10 and could go higher. Eleanor actually got to junior CH 47 despite injuries at the start of last year. Katy has a junior CH of 9.
