Laura in main draw

Joko is 7th alt, Hev is 14th alt - I think. Not so easy to find Women's main draw entries....

 

Looks like main draw cut off is 107

I think you're right ...

107 in + 3 using SRs - 2 of the top 100 not playing (Bartoli & Kirilenko) + 12 qualifiers + 8 wild cards would make 128 in total

Btw last year, the 7th Alt was the last player to get in, so it'll be touch and go for Jo. If not, she and Hev should be very high seeds in qualifying.

The qualifying cut-off date will be 16 December (4 weeks before the main draw starts - see grand slam rulebook - rather than 3 for other main tour events, but that makes it 3 weeks before qualifying starts so it makes sense), so with no events above 25K on next week, this week's events will be the last ones that count towards those rankings.

Whilst there has been plaenty of discussion about Laura's coaching set up, I wasn't aware of Heather's new appointment until now - and I've not heard of Diego Veronelli who is her 'mentor' (I took that to mean coach but not 100% sure)

A couple of players who announced they aren't going to Australia are still on the entry list, Urzula Radwanska for example.

looks like 207 is the initial cut off for quails, thus just Joko and Hev directly in.

Joko now 6th alt for main draw, Hev 12th

Tara 12th alt
Sam 27th alt
Naomi ??

Information is difficult to source and is taken from another forum thread.

I would imagine that Tara will get into qualifying no problem, if she sticks with it, when you combine the withdrawals that will be required from the main and qualifying entry lists.

It's abit of a two edged sword really,

qualies confidence of winning three matches, getting used to the court, and
MD not being tired/matched out, the right to be in MD on ranking.

either way, I'll be happy as long as she's in the MD.

Yup stating the blooming obvious, but the players who come through qualies sometimes do really well against higher ranked opponents in the first round or two.

Hard to weigh up the pros and cons, I expect it's much easier with hindsight !
