Looks like Emily was making some dosh in German club league yesterday and then France today.

Huge apologies to Emily - I' ve seen her name on the lists each year and NEVER seen her actually on the match sheet (although now I'm wondering if I missed her sometimes.....cry)

Anyway, to bring the French side up to date,

1/5/22 - Em didn't play (team lost 1-5)

8/5/22 -  Emily lost in three sets to Sopiko Tsitskishvili, and also lost her doubles (team lost 2-4)

15/05/22 - Emily won her singles against Klaartje Liebens, 3 & 4. And won her dubs. Team drew 3-3

Div 1 - Jonny Gray played at number three and had a rather nasty 4 & 0 loss against someone a fair bit lower ranked than him
But did win his doubles - and the team won 5-1

(Dan Cox didn't show today and his team really felt the loss - got trounced)

Div 4 - Marcus Willis did the business in singles again, lost his dubs, but the team won

Josh Goodall won both singles and subs with no trouble

Div 2 Women's:

In the women's. Emily Webley Smith led from the front again, won her singles against Anna Benita Fuchs, and won her doubles, and the team won 4-2

Hey Cd - out of interest how much money do players make from these club events? Is it per appearance , win bonus type fee structure or a retainer maybe?

Realise it will be a range but interested to get a sense as to what its like?!

Thanks

Each club is different. Some pay nothing.
Used to be a lot more money on offer 5-10 years back.
Expenses obviously.
And now about 1k per match on average?
I know one guy gets 300 for the match, 1.5 for a win.
No idea about doubles
People used to get 2k per match.....

Yes, interclub tennis is a big deal.

Tennis is the top individual sport in France, and only second to football if you're looking at all sports.

Those figures are only for the top one or two players, though. The guy playing number 4 won't be on the same.

And it depends on ranking:

This was an old list from about 12 years ago.

It's for all five matches. But they also got a 100 euros bonus for a match won. And a 250 euro bonus if the club got promoted.

(Just for reference, 1/6 is about British Tour level, and -30 is about ATP 800 level, say)

1/6 = 1000 euros

0 = 2000 euros

-2/6 = 2500 euros

-4/6 = 3000 euros

-15 = 4000 euros

-30 = 5000 euros a 6000 euros

Jonny Gray turned out for his Div 1 team - got a good win in the singles, playing number three. Lost his dubs. Team drew 3-3

Dan Cox's team won by walkover in Div 2

in Div 4, Marcus played number 2 (the team seem to have a new recruit) and won easily, and his dubs too - team won 5-1

Josh Goodall also played and won. The team conceded both doubles as they were 4-0 up already.

Just to say, the French elite team championships are nearly finished

Although Billy Harris and Jonny Gray are both listed in the teamlists, I can't see any sign that they've played; nor Tara, who is also on the list (although I obviously hadn't expected her to play)

The teams are all up for the Interclubs league tennis

Far less interest than there used to be (there may be many reasons for that......)

But, in the men, the following are listed on the team entry sheets (although some are a bit fictitious, I feel,, based on previous team sheets):

Tennis Div 2

Poule E: Ardresien - Dan Cox

Poule F: Niort - Tom Farqharson

Tennis Div 3

Poule C: Capdenac - Marcus Willis, Jack Carpenter

Tennis Div 4

Poule B: Dracenois - Giles Hussey; Neil Pauffley

Poule E: Sens - Nihar Navapur...

Poule U: Beauchmap - Josh Goodall

Having checked the women, Emily Webley Smith is still listed on the teamsheet for Valenciennes. But I assume that is purely historic.

More importantly, Emilie Lindh-Gallagher (which is how she is on the teamsheet) is now listed for Rouen, in Div 3.

She's down as a new arrival, so I think this is a 'real' player.

Emilie also very probably has a European residents' card (or even a passport), so it will be easier for her too.

Interesting. One thing I noticed recently about Emilie is that the order of the flags on her Instagram profile is France, UK, Norway so it looks like she has some French heritage and seemingly puts it ahead of being British.

No Emily is playing this year again, she travelled there for the match today based on her Instagram.

Really? I thought the first date was 30/4 ? And then matches on the 7/5, 14/5/ 21/5 and June 4th ?

That's what it's got on the site..... maybe I've got confused somewhere?

Oh, actually looking back it seems to have been to play in a tournament at the club, not the league matches. Sorry, my confusion.
