Matt and Nikki lost their doubles 6-4 7-5 against the number 3 seeds.

In the singles, Matt will have to do it the hard way yet again:

R1: Matt Short WR 834 v (3) Roberto Ortega-Olmedo WR 355 (ESP)

Rough draw but hopefully he can improve on last time he played ROO, when he lost 0 & 2! That was also in the Canaries (though on Tenerife) back in 2010.

Matt's a break down but it hasn't taken him long to win more games than he did the last time they played

... and now he has broken back *4-4

Matt got broken, but broke back again as RO-O served for the set, then he held. 6-5*

Edit: Tiebreak...

Which ROO takes (3)6-7

Matt ended up losing in straight sets but won 5x as many games as he did the last time they met - a good effort, I think.

L32: Matt Short WR 834 lost to (3) Roberto Ortega-Olmedo (ESP) WR 355 (= CH) by 7-6(3) 6-4

Pity about the defeat but the signs are still there that Matt is playing very well at the moment.

^ But it will help Indy catch up, two posts at a time.

I've been a bit busy, and the fact that there's so little tennis going on that interests me isn't helping my cause.
