Ed a break up in the second. Would be sort of nice to break another Austrian heart - talking of which, is this the Austrian Christmas outing or something ? There seem to be 8 (eight!) Austrian players taking part !!! Can't help wondering . . . :)
And Ed wins 6-4 6-2 ! Very neat job. He'll now get frenchman, Julien Obry, who seems to be on a great run of form after beating Dave Rice last week and taking the title, hasn't lost since. Although today he won 6-0 1-0 retirement so that's not very indicative of anything.
And, unlike Dave, Dan C and Alex, nice to see Ed managind to take advantage of going back to the futures. That should be a new CH for Ed, right on the cusp of WR 300 (WR 302 ?)

Obry didn't even lose more than 3 games in a set on his way to the title last week! He had a bit of bother in R1 this week (going a set down to WR 503) but then beat 2nd seed Reuter 2 & 4 in R2, so as matches against unseeded players for a place in the top 300 go, this is likely to be one of the tougher ones!

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
I get the impression that Ed is very much a confidence player. Had a great run at the start of the year in GB futures. Got injured and then never really got his confidence back until in the US Challenger and has kicked on again.
If he has a injury free year, he could have a big rankings jump. He is similar in type and ability to Dan Cox(i.e no big weapons), so could easily get to low 200's
First set doubles SF: Ed and Miles broke at 5-5 and served for the set at 6-5 but ended up losing the tie-break.
NB I thought it was supposed to be the loss in the Wimbledon Q1 round - when he most certainly wasn't injured - that made Ed lose his confidence ? - a thing I'd never really understood because, being there, he played great, really great, but the other guy just pipped him.
