Gomez is a former junior #1 who won the Youth Olympics back in 2010, beating Vesely, Golding and Bhambri en route. Although he's done almost nothing on tour since 2011. Not sure if he's just not played or has struggled.

Ah, that might explain why he seems to have a fan club despite his low ranking. The name didn't ring any bells - quite surprising but Gómez is quite a common name among tennis players.
In fact, he was top 500 in March last year but it looks like he has had injury problems because he did not play any ITF pro circuit matches between Nov 2012-Feb 2013 then retired from a match soon after coming back and did not play again until July. Since then, he has reached four Futures QFs but has also gone out in quite a few final qualifying rounds.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Very good to see such form from Matt late in the year. Hopefully it will help him launch 2014 in good style.
If Lewis drops out of the GB top 25 though, for me it will just magnify a pretty disappointing singles year for him. Considering he reached a CH of WR 626 twenty months ago, just before his 20th birthday, I would have hoped by now he'd be pushing the top 500 and still on the up rather than 150 places back at WR 776. I have seen some doubles targets from Gary for Marcus / Lewis next year and singles targets for Marcus. It would be interesting to know Lewis's singles targets and how he and Gary see the priorities / emphasis between his singles and doubles career.
