Cheers Steven - just backed Heinova on the back of your post. Wouldn't normally have looked.

I hope you've now jinxed Heinová then!

Still, it's kind of win/win I suppose

P.S. Don't shoot the messenger if you lose the bet wink

Don't worry about that. I only gamble what i can afford to lose and i'm fully aware of the risks in gambling. Nothing is a certainty and the bookie always wins in the long term otherwise there would be no bookies left.

Em and Dominique lost their doubles match but Manisha, playing with Fourouclas from South Africa, won hers.

I thought it was 'yes' for retirements, 'no' for walkovers, but I may well be wrong . . .

(if they didn't pay out on retirements there would be huge scope for fiddling - i.e. somebody 'retiring' right at the end, just before losing, in order to nullify all the bets on the other guy).

Katie B had a pretty torrid time of that first set, losing 6-1

... but she's 4-0 up in the 2nd so hopefully they're going to 3 sets for the second week running!

And, yes, katie gets her skates on and wins the second set by the same score she lost the first one:

1-6 6-1

Meanwhile, Emily is 5-5 in the first

Emily is making heavy weather of this R1 match but has just broken and will serve for the 1st set

standard rules are that unless the match is completed, the bet is declared void and refunded.
