Boys & Girls : ITF/CAT Circuit II, Tunisia - Grade 5 (Week 47)

There's quite a lot of British youngsters at the Grade 5 event in Tunisia this week:

 

In the girls:

R1 : Imogen MAGNER (GBR)    6-3 6-1    Mouna BOUZGARROU (TUN)

R1 : Oumeima CHARRAD (TUN)   2-6 6-1 7-6(2)     Lily REYNOLDS (GBR)

R1 : Donia ABDEL-AZIZ (WCQ) (GBR)    6-1 6-1     Emna FAHMIA (TUN)

 

Special comment for WC qualifier Donia who is only 13 and is the player who did so (unexpectedly) well in the U-14 National Championships this summer. She now plays the 15 year-old number 2 seed which may be a step too far but hey . . .

 

In the boys well done to qualifier Lawrence who put out the number 7 MD seed (he also beat the Q top seed 6-0 6-0):

R1: Lawrence PERRIN (Q) (GBR)     6-4 4-6 6-3     Mohamed Nazim MAKHLOUF (ALG) [7]

R1: Antonio SABUGUEIRO (POR) [4]     6-3 6-3     Troy DIXON (GBR)

Donia (born in 2000 and still a slip of a girl) put up a good show against the older and junior 587 ranked player but did lose as expected, as did Imogen:

R2: Farah BAKLOUTI (TUN) [6] 7-6(4) 6-2 Imogen MAGNER (GBR)
R2: Cristiana Miruna TUDOR (ROU) [2] 6-3 6-4 Donia ABDEL-AZIZ (GBR)

In the boys, Chris Reynolds is still going strong (he is 17 years-old though):

R2: Maxime MORA (FRA) 6-2 6-2 Lawrence PERRIN (Q) (GBR)
R2: Christopher REYNOLDS (GBR) [2] 6-7(3) 6-3 6-1 Filip KRATOCHVILA (SVK)

That looks pretty encouraging. Donia seems worth watching, but let's do so quietly, no pressure...

Unfortunately, Chris lost to the sixth seed from France but he is through to the doubles final, playing with Cacao from Portugal

QF : Nathan SEATEUN (FRA) [6] won 5-7 6-0 6-4 v Christopher REYNOLDS (GBR) [2]

A close match between the two top seeded pairs but no trophy for Chris:

Final : Aziz DOUGAZ (TUN) / Majed KILANI (TUN) [1] def. Tiago CACAO (POR) / Christopher REYNOLDS (GBR) [2] 7-5 6-4


Imogen Magner and Lily Reynolds made it to the semis but lost to the number one seeds who went on to take the title.
