And Luke storms to a 6-4 6-3 win and will face Liam in the semis.

I have been wanting to say this all through the 2nd set but didn't want to jinx him, but Luke didn't give up a single BP throughout the match and only dropped 10 points on serve in 9 games.

It's going to be a good semi - who is YOUR money on ?

Oli was *5-0 up serving for the set then got broken to love in a game that included 2 dfs in a row. Then I think the scoreboard froze but Malouli holds to 40 and Oli will serve for it again.

Edit: Which he does 6-2 smile

I wonder if we are now seeing a completely "injury-free" Oli for the first time this season. He is really starting to show some good form.

Somebody else, I think, (or maybe you?) also made this point a few pages back and I thought - yes, really good point. There was something he said in an interview too that suggested that he'd been playing/training in pain or discomfort for quite some time.

If that's all sorted out and behind him then that's one of the best bits of news we've heard for a while.

And I'm so glad he's currently showing Malouli what for - the French guy is really not that amazing.

6-2 to Oli.

That sounds like the interview I posted a while back but that was about Liam. Either way its a shame both have had their season hampered by injury.

Oli now up 4-0* in the second set

and the player/coach combo were up 4-0 in the doubles but have just been broken back. 4-1*

Top 6 seeds all out before the QF !!

Liam now the only one left:  Miki Jankovic, Oli's opponent in the semi-final has just put out Gaio (7) in two tie-breaks! disbelief

When you're 32, you're still on the right side of the dividing line at which being labelled as of advanced age and wisdom is a compliment. (Well, I suppose the wisdom part is always a compliment)

QF:  (2) Nikola Cacic & Alexandros Jakupovic (SRB/GRE) CR 997 (381+616) defeated Liam Broady & Mark Hilton UNR by 3-6 6-3 [10-7] cry

I'm not all that surprised, though I had hoped... CD must've put the mockers on their chances with the comment about their being well on the way to winning the match! hmm

I see that Bossel, who was beaten by Oli today in Greece has just withdrawn from next week's Greek Futures. That leaves Marcus as Nș1 seed (unless he withdraws) and Liam & Oli at 4 and 5 respectively. (Unless there ae any WCs who sneak in ahead of them) A withdrawal from Marcus would also see Lewis seeded.

Given that Oli wasn't even seeded this week, it suggests a much weaker field. I wonder if Luke is regretting not staying on for another week.

Liam showing some very solid form, beginning to build a very strong ranking base. Next year, injuries permitting, could be very special.

I get that feeling too, IF (and it's a big IF) Liam can develop a BIG serve. At the moment various match reports suggest he has a lot of skill, but that he isn't the most powerful from the baseline. That will improve, but his serve needs to get MUCH more powerful to stand much of a chance at a higher level.

What is the rule for a washed-out tournament ? i.e. one that literally does not have enough/any inside courts available ? and it rains all week ?

I see play is getting under way in Greece and Marcus is on court to play Malouli.

I have to confess that the result in this one doesn't really matter to me, just as long as Marcus comes through without aggravating his injury. I hope the people on the ground there know what they are doing with regard to his injury.

He may well have to play 2 singles and a doubles today (weather and results permitting)

With reference to your third sentence, hear, hear (but I'm not completely confident). Really don;t understand the logic.

Both Marcus and Oli an instant break down.

Marcus recovers the early break for 2-2 and Luke opens his match with a hold.

Not looking so good at the moment

Luke down 2-3*
Oli down *2-5
Marcus down 3-4*

As the saying goes - the only way is up

And up is the way they seem to be going - at least for Luke and Oli who are both now back on serve at 4-4 and 5-5 respectively.
