Apparently Lewis is concentrating on doubles but he just seems to be getting worse at singles, has had terrible results this year. What happened to his big serve? I think he held it twice in that match against a player ranked 1918!

Good to see the boys managing to stop digging when they're in a hole. wink

Luke and Oli now appear to have got a walkover into the semis.

Confirmed on the ATP site.  They will face the winners of the Broady/Hilton vs Cacic/Jakupovic match in the semi.

May well be completely unconnected (and it's east to be 'clever' with 20/20 hindsight) but a while ago, when talking about Marcus, I commented that the sports physios I know say that the main problem with being slightly overweight is the risk of injury, in particular to the back and knee. Since then Marcus has had some back problems and now:

Good luck to him and, as I say, maybe completely unconnected, but it all raises some questions - he could just have done the doubles here if loyalty to Lewis demanded it. A bit of rest and then a couple of months fitness regime is really what would do that man the most good in the long term (and maybe in the short term too).

I wouldn't call it 20/20 hindsight. A couple of us on here mentioned that with fatigue as well, the risk of injury is increased.  I really think the time has come to look at the long term strategy as opposed to the next couple of weeks.

Marcus has already far exceeded his goals for the year and has had some fantastic results, but if you are going to put in a hard winter training programme, you can't do that while carrying niggles and strains.

Couldn't agree more. And A1 said, back at the start of autumn, that a big fitness block had been scheduled (two months I think). Well, you can't do that right after the last match - you need a bit of rest. And there's no getting round the fact that the man still does have a weight issue and that needs to be sorted out (or at least helped in the right direction).

That's tennis for you.

In another strange looking result, Karlovskiy, who plays Liam in the next round lost the first set 6-4 and then dished out a couple of bagels to win 4-6 6-0-6-0 confuse

Liam and Hilts are 4-3*

That's potentially rather awkward, isn't it. Wish that said meeting had been reserved for the finals (if both teams were to get that far).

So I wake up to check the results and ........... nothing.

I guess it has been raining in Greece although it appears they are getting under way now.

Edit

Or did a couple of the games start some time ago and then get rained off.
