Hesitant as I may have been re Marcus playing, no real indication there that it was a match too far for his knee. He and Lewis have come back to win the second set and then lost a tight MTB.
I would say it is just more reflective of a pair who have not been quite at the top of their game recently losing a tight match to a decent pair, and not particularly surprising no matter the injury status.
Oli 4-1 up, but with 10 DF's. Luke an impressive 8 aces.
It's interesting that none of our "rated" boys/young men have consistently strong serves. Kyle and Oli have nice serving motions, and both occasionally have excellent serving days, but Oli in particular is prone to runs of DFs and can go matches without serving more than 1 or 2 aces, sometimes none at all. Liam's serve has been described as like a second serve, Luke's is more powerful but inconsistent. Perhaps JWH is the only player where serve is already a weapon, but he is probably more raw in other areas of his game.

On paper Luke appears to be the better player today. More points in total. A staggering 17 BP chances, compared to just 8 for Oli - but crucially he converted just 3 in the match, 1 less than Oli. Oli had to make an additional 41 serves compared to Luke, even though they served 12 games each.......which says how tough Oli found it to hold, whereas it must have been much more straightforward the other way round.
The big thing we don't know is how the boys played those break points. Did Oli just step up, was Luke too nervous or tentative, how much luck was involved? But on the 25 BPs, the score was 18-7!
