Ha Ha, a detailed and "interesting" overall report. Has a certain style.
Re the "adorable" Brits, I do think the evidence may be there that generally competing in well focussed, supportive groups helps the Brits, almost putting them in team competition mode. And particularly when there is good leadership, GB has often "overperformed" when individual sports are put into a team competition environment, notably the Ryder Cup ( along with Europe ) and the Davis Cup lately.
Mildly amusing, in that 'tennis is a strange sport' sort of way, to see several of our top players (Dave Rice, George Coupland, Jonny O'Mara . . .) getting nicely beaten by players you've probably never heard of at the County Club today . . .
Inspired to look at the results by your comments, I was rejoicing in the fact that the "retired" James May and Neil Bamford were still playing and winning ... and then realised that in fact they're the same age as (or younger than) a lot of the ATP top 20.
Have to admire some of the players who are the sole player on their team that even a fairly avid follower of GB Tennis will ever have heard of ... playing against the odds. Must be a wee bit frustrating. Hope they have an enjoyable time of it anyway.
