And a Dan forehand winner (what else ?) gives them the title. Brilliant from both.
And for the last time - kerching, kerching !
edit - sorry Bob, hadn't seen yours - but this is a big kerching so another one is justified

Yes. I think on this occasion, a double Kerching is appropriate - one each for Ed and Dan.
Is that 1000 each they get on the Bonus scheme or 1000 to share between them ?

I figure that it must be 1000 pounds each because if it were a Brit/non-Brit pair then would the LTA split it in half and only give the Brit guy 500 ? Seems a bit daft so I'm reckoning it's each.

That's the way I read it too.
So by my calculations, Dan will be taking home about 5.500 quid from this week alone. He has worked damn hard for it and earned every penny. Good luck to him. Also pleased for Ed having gone out a bit earlier in the singles. Waiting around for the rest of the week was definitely worth it for him too.
Challenger singles main draw match wins by Brits, last 6 years
(i.e. since I started keeping the best 18 tables)
2008 - 78 (title for Boggo, 2 more finalists)
2009 - 77 (titles for Evo, Wardy & Boggo)
2010 - 43 (no Challenger singles finalists)
2011 - 65 (title for Wardy & 1 more finalist)
2012 - 44 (no Challenger singles finalists)
2013 - 73 and counting ... (title for Wardy & 4 more finalists)
So this is the best year for Challenger main draw wins since Boggo last won a title in 2009 (which was also the last year he contributed a significant proportion of the main draw wins) and the first time we have had 5 Challenger singles finalists since 2006, when 4 of the 5 were the Bogster.
Also, though I haven't done the numbers for this, I'm pretty sure the number of Brits coming through Challenger qualifying is way up on any recent year.

Oh, hurrah! Brilliant result and a display of good sportsmanship as part of it ...best of all possible worlds. Well done to them both - congratulations and hope they keep going!
I have been really pleasantly surprised and encouraged by how competitive quite a number of GB guys have been in challengers in recent weeks in singles, quite apart from such as this notable doubles success.
I do so hope we at least see some increase in home challenger events next year as in a way some reward, although results are being achieved outwith the UK.
What with the Greek futures takeover by our younger prospects as well, a verrry good week.
Very interesting stats, steven. And quite clear - a huge increase compared to the previous 3 years.
Not asking you to go and find out (!!!) but I also wonder - is it 'deeper' than before ? i.e. are those 73 wins spread across a higher number of players than previously ?
Equally, how many of the Challenger wins in 2009/2008 were on home soil as opposed to this year ?
Champaign has been a wonderful way for those players to finish the year (even if they have a couple of tournaments left or not). But I also think Richard Gabb has put in decent performances in Asia - nothing much to show for it (one FQR?) but some good wins, some competitive matches, he was certainly in the mix, it'll be good experience to build on.

All things I was interested in too so I'd already started to compile some stats from the last few years which should answer those questions and a few others. However, I'll wait until the Challengers have all finished before posting them, not least because I haven't finished compiling them yet!
They should be useful stats going forward too, which makes it worth compiling them properly instead of the 5-minute copy/paste/sort/count job I did to get the Challenger stats I have posted so far. It probably also makes sense to look a wins and points at Challenger level and above (excluding Andy) rather than Challenger level only - adding in wins and points from ATPs and slams won't make a huge difference but hopefully it will become more of an issue in future if Evo, say, starts having a go at more main tour events.
