With comparisons between Smethurst and Evans earlier in the thread, the way Dan is playing this week they do look similar players. I would even say that Smethurst actually has the better forehand but like others have said his backhand overall is pretty weak- but is moving opponents around with the slice very well on indoor courts, especially in bringing them to the net before cracking a forehand past them

I didn't think Dave was quite at his best today, but Groth has such a big serve, most people find him difficult to play.
