And Lacko can't be too happy. This was a 125K last year and the top 100 players in the draw were - Niemenen (47), Lacko (57), Becker (79), Berankis (92), Sela (100). This year - Niemenen (39), Kubot (71), Lacko (74), Donskoy (80), Struff (99).
So there isn't much to split the fields, yet winning in 2012 got one Euro 15.3K and 125 points, but this year it's Euro 6.2K and 80 points.
I guess it's a bad time to be an European Challenger. Both Bratislava and Helsinki have been downgraded, and the Dnepropetrovsk 125K is no more.

Ah, thanks for mentioning that and saving me from looking it up - I thought I remembered Helsinki being a 100K+ in previous years but hadn't got around to checking. As you say, it's still got the field of a 100K+ - much stronger than the 50Ks elsewhere in the world next week.

This must be the least commented on Challenger main draw match in the recent past...
Can't blame Dan too much for losing to Lacko on indoor hard, I guess, although he was horrible in the first set: being outplayed is one thing, but you're not supposed to hand it to the opposition. Obviously he hasn't had the easiest of draws in Challengers so far (should have played a few more, though), but he must keep trying because I believe he's not too far from getting a big break. What he shouldn't do, in any case, is think that Challengers are too difficult and that he should do a Marty McFly*.
