RE: Week 45 - Greece F18 ($10,000) - Heraklion (Hard)

I can't believe that oil is the only Brit left standing! When do the qualifiers for next weeks tournaments start? I'm so terribly (cheese) bored right now!

Good to see Oli so competitive so quickly after his break.

Pity about Luke,

So, yes no all Brit final here, Mr cheese. We are generally very supporting of British tennis players on here, but if someone asks for opinions they tend ( which I like ) to get honest answers.

Welcome Mr Queso

I'm with Korriban on this one and will give you a straight "No".

Luke has shown the ability to produce some excellent wins, but so far has been unable to string three or four of these wins together. It wouldn't surprise me if Oli goes a lot further. But I also wouldn't be surprised if Luke gets beaten in the next round.

I hope I am wrong.

Oli and Luke have lost the first set of their doubles 7-5

Wouldn't be suprised if we see a lot better results from oli. He's playing back on hard, and he is a much better hard court player than clay court

Honest and quite funny assessment ...

Oli: God nows how me and @Bambo290 won dubs. Bottom drawer level but who cares! Final tomoro! #doublefaultfest #scrappy #serveandteeoff

If Oli and Liam do well the next couple of weeks am I right in saying we could have 20 top 500 players after all?

No. Because Jamie Baker will drop out shortly and unless Neil P and Dan S start to rediscover some form, so will they. And of course, if Boggo doesn't play, he's going to be outside by year end too. So unless some players find some mojo, the likely outcome is 14 players inside 500 at year end.

Cheers for checking I had a feeling some points were coming off but with it being November I didn't realise so many were. So no chance at all then. Still it should happen next year once the likes of Josh WH, Rob carter and Luke get moving.

No, I think the opportunity has passed for 20 in the top 500 this year. That ship has sailed, so to speak.

At the moment, all 4 of Boggo, Josh, Dan S and Neil have points coming off next week, which would drop them outside the top 500 on Monday week.

Boggo : 86 - 29 = 57
Dan S : 73 - 7 = 66
Jamie : 72 - 7 = 65 ( retired )
Neil : 72 - 18 = 54

That would drop us from 18 to the core 14 that have already virtually secured finishing the year in the top 500, with Tom F 14th on 72 points.

With only Neil of the above 4 players down for a challenger next week, we will certainly be heading in the wrong direction, although yes a title for Oli this week would bring him up to 68 points, close to the top 500, and Liam will be on 59 points on Monday week.

Maybe next year...

Will Jamie feel tempted to make a comeback if we tell him that he is one Futures title short of a Baker's dozen?

6-4 to Yann

Looking better in set 2 *3-0. But another 6 DFs with no aces. I think it was 11 DFs and no aces yesterday. Wouldn't surprise me that he's "protecting" himself a little on serve (without realising it) re the hernia, which could be part of the problem. or just not serving well, of course!!

And as if to make the point, Oli is broken twice in a row without much of a fight and is now 23/26 on points won/lost on serve for the match, which is NOT a recipe for success in men's tennis. 3-3

6 games in a row lost by Oli. Mr Cheese - welcome to the topsy turvy world of supporting British tennis!
